What a School year it has been. Since the beginning of the year, we have all had a wonderful time with friends and activities of all sorts. I’m very sad to say goodbye to the many seniors of this year who have worked hard and become much inspiration to the other students of the school district. With it being the last trimester and less than a week before Mother’s Day, we are all excited to take our three-month break soon. But before all the excitement happens, I would like to thank the students and staff of this year who have changed the future and my life for the better.
As a tenth grader at this school, I learned a lot of things, for instance, how many people had a hard time at school with our new rules: no phones are allowed to be used in the class. I understand why these rules exist here. They help us take a break from online problems and help us notice the people around us more. I know that when we all look back at high school, we won’t think about what we did on our devices daily. We will think about the people we have met and what we did as a group instead.
From my perspective, I did meet an awesome friend, Linnea, online at first, but almost every morning at around 6:30 am, we would talk and hang out by the South House. I’m sad that she’s a senior, though, because when she graduates, I will be doing my homework sitting alone, unable to talk to her and listen to her stories about how her days have been going. I am thrilled that I got to meet her and am so proud of how far she has gone with her life.
The school may feel small, but the people we share it with make it feel big daily. Every morning, when I am free or done with my homework, I walk around the school and admire everyone in our lives. We don’t realize that when we make a new friend, you’ll know them forever, even though you have only known them for a few months. I have met and believe I’ve made many friends this year, like Michal, Apollo, Hanna, Ayla, Tristan, and so much more. So many people don’t realize this, but every person I meet and say hi to is a friend of mine.
Even the teachers have changed my life, and I know others. Mr. Jensen, our cooking teacher, has always been a kind-hearted man and has inspired many to join his Club, cook food for others, and help others learn different ways to live.
Mrs. Bertz, our designer clothes teacher, helps with independent living, careers, and anything involving clothes; she’s always sweet, nice, and supportive. You rarely will see her ever mad.
Mr. Sullivan, one of our art teachers, is a very calm, laid-back man. Sometimes, it is hard to tell if he is being funny or serious. My favorite thing about him is how supportive he can be and how many ideas he brings to others.
Mrs.Yaggy, one of our study hall teachers, is a lovely woman who always brings people a smile every day and runs the Blue Slip store. Mr. Filley and Mr.Woodbury are two of the funniest teachers I know. They are both very inspiring to others. Mr. Filley is fun in class because he plays funny videos and tells unique stories. Mr Woodbury gives outstanding lectures and understands that we’re all struggling in our own ways, too.
I wish to write about all of the teachers and students I know at the school district who have helped and inspired people like me, but there’s never enough paper to describe what they have all done for us.
The School clubs are very exhilarating, too. All sports teams, news clubs, Gamers’ Clubs, the Model UN speech theater yearbook, and more and more clubs that have changed people are unbelievable. It is marvelous to know. I appreciate every student’s activities and work, along with school hours of homework and education, which is amazing.
This year is crazy for how fast it has gone by in the blink of an eye and how fast the memories we have kept have given us inspiration and Hope. I may not know all the seniors and first-year students, but I’m so glad I got to meet them. I am also happy I got to meet the 11th graders and 10th graders, too. This is our year, and this is the year I would like to say goodbye to the seniors I have met who have been so kind to me and have supported others.
