Minnesota Sports Check-In
Minnesota Timberwolves:
The Wolves are currently in the mix of a thrilling playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers. The series overwhelmingly favored Los Angeles before it started, but Minnesota has quickly proven everyone wrong. After their incredible game four, the Wolves took a commanding 3-1 lead and are one game away from moving to round 2. This Timberwolves team has been battle-tested time and time again, and they proved that they can beat anyone. Every single game has started slowly, but by the time the second half comes, the Wolves lock in and take over the game. Now, the wolves are headed back to LA for a chance to end the series.
Editor’s Note: The Wolves finished off the Lakers four games to one … this is sometimes called a gentleman’s sweep.

Minnesota Wild:
Much like the Wolves, the Wild are also in the mix of an intense playoff series against the Las Vegas Golden Knights. The Wild are also massive underdogs in the series, as the Golden Knights are the Pacific 1 seed, and the Wild are the first wildcard. However, the Wild have gone to a great start, proving the fans wrong. They lost game one but then bounced back to get a 2-1 lead in two incredible games. However, they lost game four in overtime, 3-4. Despite the tied series, Wild fans have to feel good about their team now. Their goalie, Filip Gustavsson, has started the series hot with a 91.85 sv%. Wild play game five on Tuesday as they look to take a 3-2 lead.
Editor’s Note: The Wild lost the series four games to two, but the series was highly competitive.

Minnesota Vikings:
Currently, the team is the only one in the off-season, but there’s still material to talk about with the 2025 NFL Draft wrapping up. At first glance, their draft class doesn’tdoesn’t look too eye-catching. They only had five picks and two of them were in round 6. While it’sit’s not super eye-catching or mind-blowing, the Vikings did what they needed to do. In round one, they beefed up the O-Line with G Donovan Jackson to protect J.J. McCarthy. They also drafted a couple of pass-catchers, with WR Tai Felton in the 3rd and TE Gavin Bartholomew in the 6th. They also grabbed depth in the defensive line, picking up EDGE Tyrion Ingram-Davis and LB Kobe King. The Vikings did fairly well in the draft but decided not to draft one of their biggest needs at Safety. Cam Bynum left the team, and Harrison Smith is getting old. Everyone expected them to address Safety early, but they didn’t. Lastly, one of the most intriguing moves the Vikings did during the draft was trading for Seahawks backup QB Sam Howell, who was a starter for the Commanders in 2023. The plan is to use Sam Howell as a backup for McCarthy in case he does not work out. In exchange for Sam Howell, the Vikings gave up pick 142 in the draft. So, it was a low-risk, high-reward trade.

Minnesota Twins:
The MLB has a famously long regular season, and the Twins are still at the general beginning of the year. So far, things have been pretty underwhelming for the Twins. Before the season, they weren’t necessarily expected to be amazing, but through 29 games, the Twins are just 13-16. They’ve been solid at home with a 9-6 record, but the road games are where they’re struggling, with a measly 4-10 record. On the bright side, the Twins have won six of their last seven games (as of April 29th), including an 11-1 win over the Cleveland Guardians. Despite the win streak, the Twins have still underperformed. We’ll see if they can keep the hot hand up and climb up the standings.
