The school has been experiencing some difficulties recently but has been able to work through it. There were two difficulties that the school had over the past two weeks that affected the faculty and students throughout the school days.
On Tuesday, Feb 20th, the school had a power issue. The school has been experiencing these issues irregularly. What caused it was the bad connection of the wires outside of the school. This caused numerous overhead lights to burn out in the school and also caused some to flicker often.
CIHS was dismissed early that day, and they successfully repaired the transformer. However, it was only a temporary fix because many of the school’s lights were not working and needed to be replaced. This happened mainly in the North and South House of the school. Many teachers then had to work around the lighting situation and even change their teaching or what they had scheduled to do for each class those days. The day after that, some teachers had to be resourceful and bring their lights in for school because they could only hold off on their plans for so long before they eventually had to do them. However, that was one of many problems the school has been having.
The school also had another problem on Tuesday, Feb 27th, a week later. It was incorrectly assumed that there were some sewage problems, but later, it was discovered there was a problem with a battery on one of the floor cleaning machines. Most of the issues affected the North and South House area and the connecting hallways. It was a terrible odor that lasted most of the day, but by the time school started on Wednesday, the Janitors were able to fix the problem, and the foul smell was gone.
Students were also having difficulty and were affected by the lighting and sewage problems. Students had to plug their noses or hold their breath while walking past that section of the school where the sewage problems were the worst, and numerous students tried their best to avoid it as much as possible. Similar things happened with the lighting throughout the school, but it was harder to avoid. This was because the flickering lights were occurring all over the school and most hallways. It was very strenuous on the students’ eyes while they squinted or tried to focus on walking to the next class.
Everyone worked through those obstacles, including the students and the teachers. The school had to be resilient and fix the problems so they wouldn’t make a more significant matter out of what it was or cancel school and have to add days at the end of the year. If we have more problems in the future, we should overcome them quickly and bounce right back.
