There is a story about CIHS revolving around a photo of a floating man in a checkered hallway.
Only a few know the story behind the photo of the mysterious floating man. Some say it is a myth, while others claim to have known the students who caused the strange anomaly.
The paranormal activity investigators were said to have interviewed the students regarding the incident. The two students, Kal and Thomas, stated that at some point during an average school day, they both saw a stunt online showing a video of a monk levitating a few feet off the ground after reaching a state of purity and peace. This is where the legend began.
In the video, the monk said that he accomplished this feat of levitation by emptying his mind of all thoughts. After watching the video, Thomas looked at Kal and said: “I think our friend could pull that off easily because he doesn’t seem to have any thoughts in his head to begin with.” The two laughed at this remark, but then they thought it would be funny if they made a parody video of their friend mimicking the stunt performed by the monk. They both agreed this would be a fun way to mess with their friend (Student X). Side note: Student X has nothing to do with the X-Men. For the record, no mutants were harmed in the creation of this article.
During the last hour of the school day, Thomas and Kal convinced their friend to help them make it by claiming that the video would make him the coolest high schooler at CIHS. Shortly after this conversation, a staff member recalled last seeing the two boys, Thomas and Kal, walking down to the lower floors of the school with their friend following them while doing the griddy. All three of them finally went downstairs into the school to try to replicate the stunt they saw online.
Once the three students arrived at the checkered hallway, they decided it would be a suitable spot to shoot the video. Kal and Thomas hooked up wires to their Student X’s shirt and attached it to the ceiling, hoping to raise him a few feet off the ground to make it look like he was levitating. Unfortunately, their friend thought it would be funny if he rocked back and forth while raised above the ground, and his friends looked like they were running in fear.
So, while Kal and Thomas were trying to figure out the best angle to shoot their video, behind them was their Student X, who was swinging back and forth and going faster and faster until, all of a sudden, the ceiling collapsed due to the weight of the swinging. With a crash, both Kal and Thomas turned around to see half of the ceiling on the floor and their friend lying amongst all the rubble.
When Kal and Thomas saw what had happened, they began to panic. Quickly, they got their friend out of the rubble, and Kal recorded the scene of their unconscious Student X on his phone. Thomas began to try to wake him up, but he was not responding.
Thomas then took X’s pulse and noticed his friend’s heart had stopped. Instantly, he ran to the high school auto shop, where his 1959 Ford Edsel was being worked on. He yanked out his car’s battery and a set of jumper cables and headed back to the checkered hallway.
After arriving in the hallway, he bent over their friend and began to hook the cables onto the battery. Just as he was about to clamp the cables onto his ears, X woke up and yelled, “What are you doing?”
Kal posted a still image of his recorded video before Student X fell. He posted the image of his friend hanging from the ceiling, with a photoshopped image of Thomas running to the auto shop. Kal gave the image the title “Floating Boy Chasing Running Boy.”
