You might be wondering: What’s next? What’s our big school event or fun activity coming up? Well, the TIME IS HERE! Our Student Council has created a brand-new event called FROSTY COMBAT, running from December 8th to December 13th.
What is Frosty Combat?
Frosty Combat is a winter clothing donation competition where study hall classes battle to collect the most gear for people in need!
How it works:
Every donated item earns Frosty Points.
The Top 3 classes win awesome prizes!
Prizes:
1️⃣ First Place — Pizza
2️⃣ Second Place — Donuts
3️⃣ Third Place — DQ Blizzard coupon
How did this game come of age?
It all started with Syla Howard, a Student Council member, who shared an idea with the committee. Inspired by Socktober, where only socks are donated, she wanted to expand it to help families who didn’t have winter clothing and struggled to stay warm.
This small idea morphed into something even bigger. Another council member, Inari Peterson knew she wanted to help manage the project after hearing about it. Having experienced hard times herself, Inari understood the importance of supporting the community.
Together, with planning and brainstorming, the Student Council created Frosty Combat. Inari spent about 2 hours coming up with the perfect name because this event was about keeping the whole community warm with all kinds of winter gear.
“Frosty Combat is very similar to Penny Wars from previous years,” Inari explained. “But instead of small jars, we’re using big bins and boxes. And instead of sabotaging, we’re seeing who can donate the most. We’re doing this for a good cause—to help people.”
Why it matters:
Every donation helps people in your community stay warm this winter. Many families struggle to make it through the cold, and by participating, you’re helping save lives and provide comfort.
How did one team of students plan such a big event?
They didn’t do it alone. Inari called her workplace and got 30 bins donated, while Syla rallied friends at school and collected 36 boxes. Elise helped organize meetings, and Jarelyn Hoover is promoting the event. The Student Council split into groups for planning and promotions; the front office is helping by taking in bins and boxes; NHS is lending a hand; and even the town is supporting by providing donation locations and contributing prizes.
This event shows the power of teamwork and community. If Syla hadn’t spoken up, none of this would exist. One word can spark change; one stand can create an army.
